First Record of the Invasive Neoclytus acuminatus (Fabricius, 1775) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) in Bulgaria

Abstract

In 2024 the redheaded ash borer Neoclytus acuminatus (Fabricius, 1775) was found for the first time in Bulgaria. Six adults were collected via Malaise (SLAM) traps in the Western Balkan Mountains from two localities near Barzia village. It seems that the species has already been naturalized and new records from other parts of the country could be expected. Due to its wide polyphagia, it could be regarded as a potential insect pest not only to the forestry and timber industry, but also to ornamental landscaping.

Key words
