Abstract
A catalogue of the type specimens of recent birds (three nominal species-group taxa) in the National Museum of Natural History at Sofia, Bulgaria, is presented. It contains data on the type specimens of the nominal subspecies Phasianus colchicus europaeus Hachisuka, 1937 (Galliformes: Phasianidae), Picus canus caesaris Steinbacher, 1938 (Piciformes: Picidae) and Prunella modularis meinertzhageni Harrison & Patev, 1937 (Passeriformes: Prunellidae), which have been described from Bulgaria. None of these subspecies is currently considered valid.
