Abstract
Artificial reproduction of Pachychilon pictum (Heckel & Kner 1878) was investigated, using gametes obtained from spawners, collected from wild populations from Lake Ohrid. Standard methods for artificial reproduction in a modified form were applied, resulting in high fertilization and survival rates, confirming the success of the procedure. This is first study of this kind for cyprinid fish from Lake Ohrid, highlighting the importance of the resulting data, which could serve as a foundation for further research on additional cyprinid fish species from the lake, and if needed for future conservation purposes.
Key words
