In April 2023, Bulgarian science lost an eminent zoologist and leading researcher who played a pivotal role in advancing insect chemical ecology in Bulgaria. Dr Mitko Subchev was a professor at the Institute of Zoology (now Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research), Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
